Fue durante el XIX Simposio Iberoamericano de conservación y utilización de recursos Zoogenéticos de la red CONBIAND (Conservación de los Biodiversidad de los animales domésticos para el Desarrollo), llevado a cabo del 22 al 26 de octubre en la localidad de Riobamba, Ecuador, organizado por la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo – Facultad de Ciencias Pecuarias, la Universidad de Córdoba – España, el Centro Agrícola de Riobamba y la FAO. Nuestra provincia fue sede de la edición XVII de este evento en el año 2016, donde se recibió en el CEDEVA de Laguna Yema a especialistas de toda Iberoamérica que pudieron conocer el trabajo realizado por el Gobierno Provincial con la Cabra Formoseña y la Oveja del Oeste Formoseño, dos razas hoy ya reconocidas por la FAO como recursos genéticos propios de nuestra provincia.

Durante los días en que se desarrolló el Simposio en Riobamba,el Centro de Validación de Tecnologías Agropecuarias de Laguna Yema presentó 7 (siete) ponencias orales de diferentes trabajos científicos llevados a cabo de manera conjunta entre en el Área de Producción Animal del CEDEVA y la cátedra de Producción de Pequeños Rumiantes y Cerdos de Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias de la UNNE, en los que se revaloriza a los Caprinos y Ovinos Formoseños, destacando su importancia en la producción familiar del centro – oeste Formoseño y brindando herramientas para potenciar su conservación y utilización.

Recientemente la red CONBIAND, cuyo coordinador nacional en Argentina es el Dr. Sebastian de la Rosa, Director del CEDEVA Laguna Yema, ha celebrado un convenio de cooperación con FAO para mejorar el relevamiento y la carga de datos en el Sistema de registros de razas locales (DAD-IS), por lo que a futuro se tendrá participación en estas actividades en el país. Además, se mantuvieron reuniones de trabajo con coordinadores nacionales del área de Recursos Genéticos de INTA (animales, vegetales y microorganismos)y con la responsable de FAO del área de Recursos ZoogenéticosRoswitaBaumung. Por otro lado, en el marco del Seminario de Traspatio Iberoamericano, otra de las actividades dentro del Simposio, se realizó la presentación del libro: Agricultura familia tradicional: experiencias rurales en México y Argentina.

La presencia de más de 200 especialistas Iberoamericanos de 21 países en el Simposio fue propicia para robustecer la difusión y compartir experiencias de las políticas activas que desarrolla el estado provincial hacia el desarrollo de pequeños productores con recursos locales.
